Bandits win first game of the season
The Atom 2 Bandits started the season with a great performance against Paris Sunday, winning 6-4 at home.
Marksman Josh MacDonald potted four goals, three of which came in a wild third period, which helped erase a 3-2 deficit with twelve minutes to go. Sebastien Haazar and Stephanie Laidlaw also found themselves all over the score sheet, putting up four and three points respectively. Jack Fitzpatrick-MacPhee finished up the scoring, popping a really nice backhander late in the game.
The balance of the forwards dug hard at both ends of the ice, which lead to a large puck possession advantage for the home team.
Not to be outdone, the defense played a strong game, and really came into their own in the last two periods, allowing a measly six shots in the final two frames. The goalies came up big when needed with Adam Lugowski making a huge glove save in the final moments of the second period, and Luca Filice robbing a Paris attacker on a breakaway while the game was tied 3-3 in the third.
Great job Bandits, let's make it two and O in Hespeler on October 18th.
